It's June now, which means this year's All-Star Game isn't some distant matter anymore. In fact, MLB released the first round of vote leaders for the American League on Monday, with some very familiar names at the top.
Miguel Cabrera — in a development that should surprise no one, considering how good he's been this year — leads all AL players with 1,500,165 votes. New York Yankees second baseman Robinson Cano is second overall with 1,235,230 and Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout in third with 1,190,676 votes.
Despite being a seven-time All-Star, Cabrera has never been elected a starter. That should change this year. Starters will be announced July 7 for the July 16 game. In-stadium voting ends June 28, but online voting continues until July 4. National League top vote-getters will be announced on Tuesday.

Obviously the most glaring voting gaffe here is Derek Jeter being fifth, despite being hurt and not having played an inning. But it's better than being No. 1. Who else do you think doesn't deserve to be so high? Who should be higher or is getting snubbed? Will you be starting an online voting campaign on behalf of anyone?
