Snowball fight breaks out at Gardner-Webb and Dayton college baseball game (Video)

The weather may be beautiful in Arizona and Florida, where major league teams are wrapping up their first week of training camp, but it’s not all sunshine and short sleeves in the college baseball world.

Nope. And especially not in Boiling Springs, North Carolina, where are a very heavy snowfall halted the action between the home standing Gardner-Webb Runnin' Bulldogs and visiting Dayton Flyers during the sixth inning of their game on Saturday.

The extended snow delay — which eventually resulted in the game being suspended and then cancelled — didn't only mess a scoreless pitcher's dual, it also left the two teams with a little to time to kill and excess energy to burn. So they did what any of us would do in their situation. They started a snowball fight!

Here's a look at the video:

Unfortunately, Randy Johnson was not at this game, though I'm sure he was there in spirit.

The two teams were originally scheduled to resume the game on Sunday afternoon with another game to follow. However, field conditions were still a little rough, so both games had to be cancelled and will not be rescheduled. Gardner-Webb won the opener on Friday night, so I guess the season series is in theirs, and now they'll get to carry an undefeated record into their Wednesday game against Furman.
