The Force is strong with ‘Star Wars’ night from the Triple-A Fresno Grizzlies

When the Triple-A Toledo Mud Hens wore Chewbacca-style jerseys for their "Star Wars" night last month, The Stew liked 'em as much as the prequels. Sorry, Toledo.

The Triple-A Fresno Grizzlies, however, have their "Star Wars" night this weekend and The Force is strong with their jerseys. Even if they're from The Dark Side.

The Grizzlies, an affiliate of the San Francisco Giants, will wear these Storm Trooper jerseys on Saturday.

While dressing as a Storm Trooper might not ensure a long life, it's not that big of a deal — the jerseys are a one-night-only wear. After the game, they'll be auctioned off for charity, specifically to aid a program at nearby California State University, Fresno that helps 4-12 year-olds with conflict resolution. Sounds like something our pal Anakin Skywalker could have used.

The Grizzlies made some pretty sweet promo videos for "Star Wars" night, including this one of Storm Troopers in the batting cage while Darth Vader and Darth Maul watch:

Here are a couple others you might enjoy:

The Grizzlies also made a special logo with a bear swinging a light saber instead of a bat:

This makes it fairly obvious what the next minor-league "Star Wars" night needs to have: Actual light saber bats.

Baseball is back. Don't miss anything.
