The following disclaimer appears near the end of "Ty Cobb: The Movie," which premiered on YouTube on Sunday:
"The truth is, nothing is 100 % accurate."
Not even the truth itself?! That's director Bradley Woodrum with the amusing circular logic in defending (?) the work of documentary filmmaker Ken Burns, who inspired Woodrum's work on "Ty Cobb: The Movie." It's a short film (just under a minute), with Monty Python-esque animation and absurd voiceovers, that is strange enough to make you doubt the existence of Cobb himself.

It's a minute that we'll all never get back, but we're all better for it. Not everyone will find it hilarious — just stupid — but can't it be both? And how seriously can you take a movie that lists a "fluffer" in the credits? We find out.
As far as its accuracy: While it's true that Cobb did slide like that, famously so, and injure catchr Paul Krichell, he probably didn't do it while tripping LSD and screaming "You German Nazi" at him. And while Krichell's major league career ended shortly thereafter, he still managed to be an effective player in the minor leagues for years before becoming probably the best scout in major league history, no hyperbole there.
Burns' work with "Baseball" has been widely praised, seemingly universally so, though some critics have pointed out inaccuracies the film. And then some of those critics eventually went to work for Ken Burns! It makes me wonder: Is Keith Olbermann real?
The same goes for Ty Cobb, whose own career story is full of seemingly "tall" stories: Did he really beat a disabled fan in stands just for snoring too loud? Mostly, yeah, it happened just like that.
"Ty Cobb: The Movie" can be thought of this way: It's probably better, and way shorter, than the Ty Cobb movie with Tommy Lee Jones.
