Whoa! Ben Revere takes flight to make an incredible catch

Ben Revere has set the bar. If anybody else in baseball wants the "catch of the year" crown for 2013, they're going to have to top this awe-inspiring grab from Monday's Philadelphia Phillies game against the Cincinnati Reds.

Revere sprinted toward the gap and leapt like he expected to fly away. And he almost did. He extended so far it looked like his arms grew as he made the catch. After sliding into the warning track, Revere popped up quickly to double up Jay Bruce from first base. Todd Frazier, who hit the ball, had to thinking he had an RBI double. Nope. Not with Ben Revere flying around.

Here's the slow-motion .gif of the catch, via Crashburn Alley, so you can fully appreciate the effort here.

Now let's turn this one over to the judges.

Baseball is back. Don't miss anything.
