Get ready to shake your head with disapproval at the punning and rhyming of New York Yankees radio man John Sterling, who came up with a typically schlocky call for Kevin Youkilis' first home run in pinstripes. His blast against Doug Fister gave the Yankees a 3-1 lead in the fifth, but Youk's Yanks trail the Detroit Tigers in the late going Friday afternoon at Comerica Park.
Let Twitter tell the story of Sterling telling the story:
"IT'S A NUKE....FROM YOUK!!!! AS THEY SAY, HE IS KEVIN SENT!"
— Krizia (@kriztweetsalot) April 5, 2013
It's a nuke ... from Youk? And they say he is Kevin-sent? Sterling, you didn't. Oh, he did. We'll get audio ASAP. In the meanwhile, what else did the masses think about it?
@rippleintime17 Oh god... — Shana Westlake (@ShanaWestlake) April 5, 2013
John Sterling's HR call for Kevin Youkilis: "A nuke from Youk." which is, of course, borderline offensive. Sterling then said "Kevin sent."

“@rakcity27: here's the whole thing. "IT'S A NUKE....FROM YOUK!!!! AS THEY SAY, HE IS KEVIN SENT!"” Love it, wish I heard the call

"It's a nuke... From Youk!" and "Youkilis is Kevin-sent" were the calls from John Sterling. Can someone fire this guy?

Oh, John. RT @_princeofwhales: @neeenz "A nuke from Youk. He's Kevin sent."
— Neeenz (@Neeenz) April 5, 2013
Writing down "It's a nuke from Youk. As they say, he is Kevin-sent" over and over until I feel numb.
Pukes everywhere RT @sbnation Yankees announcer John Sterling's call for Kevin Youkilis' home run: "It's a nuke … from Youk!"

@anthonycumia Sterling's call for Youkilis HR: A NUKE...FROM YOUK! Well, Youkilis is really "KEVIN-sent!" Shoot me please! — John Regan (@THEJohnnyReegs) April 5, 2013
Have we not come to expect this? RT @slapschotts: Your Kevin Youkilis home run call from John Sterling: "A nuke from Youk." #SterlingFail — WNYHOCKEYPROSPECTS (@wnyh2234) April 5, 2013
One guy pointed out the timing of Sterling's metaphor might not be the best, with North Korea rattling off nuclear threats.
Probably not the right time for John Sterling's home run call for Youkilis to be "its a nuke from Youk"
— Tim Mallach (@Tim_Mallach) April 5, 2013
Worst home run call ever rt @jacko2323: "A nuke from Youk"- Sterling's HR call for Youkilis.” — Bryan D (@BryanD26) April 5, 2013
Sterling obviously is an acquired taste. And if you're one of these people who bristles at the first sign of a pun, you're never going to like listening to Sterling. Amazingly, though, some people aren't "all-in" or "all-out" regarding Sterling. There's a class of moderates, too:
"It's a nuke from Youk!" and "Kevin-sent" were apparently both used in Sterling's HR call. Not bad. #Bombers

And then this succinct response:
That's just... awful. RT @sbnation Yankees announcer John Sterling's call for Kevin Youkilis' home run: "It's a nuke … from Youk!"
