Baseball’s hottest hitter Chris Davis is making history — have we found his secret weapon?

Minnesota Twins pitchers might have nightmares — of a big, bulging slugger wearing a No. 19 Baltimore Orioles jersey.

The Twins are the next team to face Chris Davis of the Baltimore Orioles, the hottest hitter in baseball, who is destroying pitches at a historic rate this season.

Davis hit a homer and drove in four runs in Thursday's 6-3 win against the Tampa Bay Rays. With that, he's homered and driven in at least three runs in all three games this season. He has 11 total RBIs and an eye-popping hitting line: .636/.692/1.727. He leads the league in all three of those categories, plus RBIs (the next closest player has six). Only Michael Morse of the Seattle Mariners, with four, has more home runs than Davis' three.

The Baltimore Sun does the heavy-lifting to put Davis' tear in historical context:

He became the second player in Orioles history to homer in each of the season’s first three games (Frank Robinson did it in his triple crown American League MVP season of 1966).

Davis also became the first big league player to drive in 11 runs or more over the first three games of the season since 1935, when Philadelphia Phillies first baseman Dolph Camilli had 12 RBIs, according to the Elias Sports Bureau. Davis is the first player to record three or more RBIs in the first three games of a season since records became available in 1916.

Going back to 2012, Davis has homered in nine of his last 10 regular season games. Last season was Davis' breakout. He hit 33 homers and drove in 85 runs, finally finding consistency after six up-and-down years.

Davis has been streaky in the past, so approach his strong start accordingly.

We, however, can't help but wonder if something he posted on Twitter right before the season has something to do with his hot start. A good luck monkey?

Could be. This monkey could be Davis' version of Jobu — only it requires bananas instead of rum. Or, if you're not buying that, his power surge could just be because of those big ol' biceps.
