After signing a two-year, $26 million deal with the Detroit Tigers this offseason, Torii Hunter has made the decision to put his time with the Los Angeles Angels completely behind him — not surprisingly — by placing his Newport Beach property on the market.
Yes, that would be the same home where police allegedly drew their guns on Hunter while responding to an alarm from the home‘s security system last April. At first, the responding officers didn’t recognize the nine-time Gold Glove outfielder and were apparently hesitant to take him at his word. The matter was soon resolved, thankfully without incident, after Hunter provided sufficient identification.
He then recounted the entire frightening experience in a series of lighthearted tweets.
According to property records, Hunter paid $3.8 million for the Crystal Cove community estate in 2007, right after he inked his five-year, $90 million contract with the Angels. He's now asking for just a shade over the amount at $3.975 million.

No, it's not quite as majestic as Barry Bonds' Beverly Hills estate that he recently listed for $25 million, but it's nice piece of property nonetheless.
Also worth noting, former Angels teammate John Lackey owns a home in the same neighborhood. And if you'd like to own Hunter's place, just make sure you‘re comfortable grilling out with Bob Costas. He just bought the 4.7 million property right next door.
