Padres ballgirl snares line drive to save Braves bullpen (Video)

Believe it or not, the San Diego Padres have caught fire out west and are now winners of eight straight — including three-game sweeps of the Pittsburgh Pirates and Arizona Diamondbacks — after their 3-0 win over the Atlanta Braves on Monday night.

Debuting right-hander Casey Kelly was the story and the star in the latest win, tossing six mostly dominant and completely shutout innings to earn his first big league win. That was certainly fun to watch unless you're a Boston Red Sox fan. But something else that was fun to watch and learn was the Padres recent outstanding play isn't just limited to those wearing Padres uniforms between the white lines. It also applies to those donning them down the foul lines.

Of course I'm referencing the Petco Park ballgirls. More specifically, the ballgirl down the right field line on Monday night, who rose out of her chair to impressively snag a wicked line drive off the bat of Padres' second baseman Logan Forsythe in the fifth inning that was ticketed for Atlanta's bullpen:

It's may not rank as the greatest ballgirl catch we've seen (there have been several that could qualify) but I don't think the members of the Braves bullpen that were scrambling for their lives are too concerned about where it ranks. In fact, you saw Chad Durbin come right over and bump fists as a sign of gratitude for saving him or teammate from wearing an ice park. Oh, and perhaps saved them from a little bit of embarrassment as well.
