This highlight from Sunday's Mets-Rockies game already had it all. Down four runs with two outs in the bottom of the eighth, pinch hitter Todd Helton cleared the bases by taking a 2-2 pitch high into the right field stands. The grand slam — the sixth of Helton's career — sent the crowd at Coors Field into a frenzy and the game on a path to extra innings.
But wait! Who was that man delivering a high-five just after Helton's homer bounced into the seats? Why, it was none other new Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning, making a Mile High connection with his new target, Denver receiver Eric Decker, for the first time.

That Manning and Helton are good friends dating back to their University of Tennessee days is no big secret. Manning has been to games at Coors Field before and Helton caught passes for his friend as he worked his way back from injury. Manning was able to visit two Volunteers on Sunday, though, as Mets pitcher R.A. Dickey also attended the school.
"I've been here a number of times to see Todd play. I was here last year during the lockout to work out, so I've been here a couple times. The people here with the Rockies have been great to host us, so it's kind of fun to be here as a member of the home team and not as a visitor."
Yeah, the Rockies went on to lose 6-5 in 11 innings. Still: Eat your heart out, Tebow!
