The sneak preview episode of Showtime's The Franchise aired on Saturday night, whetting our appetites for the rest of the series this summer and making good on the promise of showing the footage from Ozzie Guillen receiving the news of his five-game suspension.
While we didn't quite get the expletive-filled pushback from Guillen that we might have hoped for, there were still a few quality moments. Our favorites: Team president David Samson awkwardly asking if Guillen "had a minute" (when then manager, his wife and owner Jeffrey Loria were already waiting for the meeting to begin) and Guillen referring to Fidel Castro as "this (bleepin') guy" during his apology to Loria and Samson.
Watch it here:
Joe Capozzi of the Palm Beach Post wondered if Guillen felt awkward taking his medicine with Showtime's cameras in the room, but the manager said it was all part of the job and that he barely even noticed they were there.
"I didn't have a script. I didn't have to put on makeup," Guillen said in the Post. "I'm not going to change who I am. I don't mind that. Hey, we agreed to do that, we agreed to help them have the best show they can have, and we have to deal with it."
The regular series will premiere on July 11 and if you're still undecided on opening a Showtime subscription for it, you can watch the full preview episode here.
