New Era commercial pits Cubs fan ‘Ron Swanson’ against White Sox fan ‘Darryl Philbin’

Fresh off last season's entertaining campaign featuring Alec Baldwin and John Krasinski, New Era is back with another set of ads featuring dueling stars from NBC's Thursday night lineup.

But while 2011's dispute centered around the Yankees and Red Sox, this year's commercials will have a decided Midwestern feel as Nick Offerman ("Ron Swanson" from Parks & Recreation) squares off against Craig Robinson ("Darryl Philbin" from The Office.) Both are Chicago-area natives with vastly different rooting interests. Offerman grew up in Minooka, Ill. as a Cubs fan while Robinson supported the White Sox while living on the South Side. The ads were written and produced by the folks at Funny or Die.

At any rate, Big League Stew is the first media outlet to get the 60-second version of the ad before it hits the marketplace during this weekend's games. Enjoy.
