Real life interrupted the Chicago White Sox-Toronto Blue Jays game on Thursday night as a fan sitting along the third base line received CPR and was carried away on a stretcher through a gate in left field.
The fan's condition or why he needed CPR was not immediately known, but several fans at Rogers Centre took to Twitter and reported a somber situation. The game was delayed for more than five minutes in the bottom of the seventh inning as players from both teams watched the situation.
According to @jaysfaninwhite, who was at the game, the medical situation was going on for "four or five minutes" before White Sox third baseman Kevin Youkilis notified the umpires. The game was then halted after Moises Sierra fouled a popup down the right field line.
The man was loaded onto a cart on the field and a paramedic continued to work on him even as the vehicle drove off the field. The game was then resumed with the White Sox taking home a 7-2 victory.
