Mike Trout crashes into the wall, helps a homer over the fence

Mike Trout pulled a Bryce Harper on Thursday night. And not in a good way.

In the ninth inning of the Los Angeles Angels' loss to the Baltimore Orioles, Nate McLouth blasted a deep fly to center. Trout took off, lept toward the wall — and if you're like us, you started adding to your Mike-Trout-stolen-home-run tally ... but then he missed it.

In fact, Trout's glove gave the ball an assist as it rolled across the fence before dropping over — like a golf ball falling into a hole.

The moment was reminiscent of Bryce Harper's play Tuesday night, when he crashed into the fence and helped a Tim Hudson homer over the wall. Harper also hurt himself in the process.

The failed home-run steal punctuated a rough night for Trout, who was 0-for-3 and got thrown out at the plate in the first inning. It was another uncharacteristic play for young phenom. He was testing Nick Markakis' arm, trying to score from second. But Trout didn't even bother to slide when he got close to the plate. He was easily tagged out.
