Dodgers send Matt Kemp to the 15-day DL with hamstring injury

Matt Kemp hasn't been himself this season — even before getting led off the field Wednesday night during a pitching change in the Dodgers-Angels game.

Yahoo! Sports' Tim Brown told us afterward that Kemp was taken out of the game because of a strained right hamstring. Now that same right hammy has landed Kemp on the disabled list for at least 15 days.

The Dodgers announced the roster move Thursday afternoon, recalling catcher Tim Federowicz from Triple-A. Some Dodger fans hoped this would clear the way for Spring Training hotshot Yasiel Puig to get a big-league call, but word is he's still playing in Double-A.

Kemp is hitting .251/.305/.335 with only two home runs and 17 RBIs so far this season. He's been doing wonders as a public ambassador for the Dodgers, but not so much as an on-the-field superstar.

Perhaps a couple weeks off — now matter the reason — will do Kemp some good.

Baseball is back. Don't miss anything.
