Twenty-four hours ago, the Boston Red Sox tweeted, "see you tomorrow" with the above picture of Fenway Park and that "B Strong" logo. Now — with the city locked down while authorities hunt for the second Boston Marathon bombing suspect — it's still unclear whether that will actually happen.
The Red Sox, riding a six-game winning streak that includes a three-game sweep in Cleveland after Monday's bombing, were supposed to face the Kansas City Royals on Friday. It would the start of a 10-game homestand and the Red Sox's first Fenway game since beating the Tampa Bay Rays 40 minutes before the bombs went off.
With citizens being ordered to stay inside and public transit shut down, it seems inevitable that the game would be postponed. We haven't gotten the official announcement from the team — "No word yet" is the latest from the Red Sox — but we're getting conflicting reports from players about the status of the game. The Boston Globe's Nick Cafardo reports that at least one Red Sox player, David Ortiz, was informed there wouldn't be a game.

But Shane Victorino tweeted back, "false," so it sounds like there's still some figuring to do.

If the game happens, Ortiz is expected to return to the Red Sox lineup and play his first game of the season after heel injuries. Like everything that could happen on a baseball field in Boston during this tense time, that could very easily be postponed another day.
