Padres release veteran right-hander Garcia (Yahoo! Sports)
PEORIA, Ariz. (AP) -- The Padres released veteran right-handed pitcher Freddy Garcia on Sunday morning, eliminating one candidate for the No. 5 spot in their starting rotation.
