Incredible play alert! College pitcher tosses entire glove to first base (Video)

University of Oregon pitcher Jeff Gold's quick thinking is worthy of a medal — or at least viral fame on the web.

Fitting, because the web (of his glove) is where a comebacker got stuck during Tuesday's game against Cal State Northridge. Gold tried to get the ball out, couldn't, and instead tossed his glove (with the ball inside!) to first base. Watch:

The guy who also deserves huge props is first baseman Ryon Healy, who lived up to the old adage: Keep your eye on the ball. When the ball and the glove fly apart, Healy only worries about what's important, the ball, and catches it. The glove goes over his head.

Oregon, if you're wondering, won the game 4-1. Both Gold and Healy contributed in other ways. Gold pitched seven innings, striking out six and giving up only an unearned run. Healy, who is hitting .382, went 1-for-4 with an RBI double.
