Tattoo injury! Elvis Andrus taken out of Texas Rangers lineup over ‘sensitivity’ to inking

You know those books (and even blog posts) that come out every so often and they're about strange sports injuries? Yeah, well, this one's definitely getting a chapter.

Elvis Andrus of the Texas Rangers is out of the lineup Thursday because of a tattoo injury. No, it's not really one of them Mike Tyson/"The Hangover" Guy/tribal face deals, as illustrated in the photo above. That's just a joke to scare Rangers fans. Gerry Fraley, who covers the Rangers and has since forever, tweeted the real news:

Elvis Andrus not playing today for Rangers. New and elaborate tattoo caused ``sensitivity'' in left biceps.

These kids today and their out-of-control tattoos. They don't hurt anybody, eh? Just some self-expression, huh? Yeah, well. They're mostly right, of course. It's a good thing Andrus picked February to get this new tat and not in the middle of the pennant race. The Rangers probably would have liked it even more if he had gotten inked in January. But one day off isn't going to displace Andrus at shortstop and may way for phenom Jurickson Profar, though it might be funny if it did.
