White Houses makes statement on Stan Musial

It might surprise you to learn that President Obama took the official Oath of Office on Sunday in a private ceremony. So, even though Inauguration Day is Monday, it's still a busy day for him, like most days. And, like the rest of us, it hurt him to learn of the death of Stan Musial on Saturday. The President also was lucky enough to have met Musial, presenting him with the Medal of Freedom in 2010. Via the blog of MLB.com's Jenifer Langosch, here's what Obama had to say about "The Man":

“The President was saddened to learn of the passing of baseball legend Stan Musial. In 2010, the President was honored to award Stan “the Man” Musial the nation’s highest civilian honor – the Medal of Freedom – for his unrivaled passion for the sport and the example he set for all young Americans. The President’s thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones.”
