Target Field smothered by frozen white substance

This is kind of what it looked like at old Metropolitan Stadium during the baseball offseason 35 years ago. The above photo submitted by the Minnesota Twins via Twitter on Wednesday is much more football-y than baseball-y. Fair enough, with the Vikings and Packers set to meet in Green Bay in the NFL playoffs in a few days. But there are only 41 days until Twins pitchers and catchers report for spring training (and a few more than that until opening day), so they better get a move on and clear the field soon.

Ah, Denard Span and Ben Revere have no idea what they're missing!

It's interesting that snow accumulates on the playing field at all, given that an elaborate heating system was built into Target's turf. But the franchise of Harmon Killebrew and Kent Hrbek surely knows what it's doing.

Note: This is the second snow-covered field featured on The Stew in recent days. It's definitely early January.

Already counting down to spring training?
