David Price wanted to buy a Twinkie signed by none other than… David Price?

If it seems like there's a fun or interesting David Price story being blogged every week, it's because there usually is a fun or interesting David Price story worth blogging every week.

Whether he's winning the American League Cy Young or a PGA Tour Pro-Am tournament, having his likeness painted on custom made M&M's, or even receiving the keys to the city of Tampa with his bulldog Astro, he always manages to stay front and center, and does so in a way that doesn't come across as shameless self promotion.

In case you haven't noticed, that's a lost art among athletes these days.

Anyway, Price's string continued this weekend as it was brought to his attention via Twitter that an unopened Twinkie he had autographed recently was up for bid on eBay. Of course, with Hottess closing down operations just last month, items such as Twinkies have now become collector's items for some. And I'd say that would be especially true when said Twinkie bares the signature of the reigning American League Cy Young winner.

Once notified and shown a picture, Price immediately confirmed that he'd signed the item after the seller won an auction. He also added…

Yea i signed it...gonna buy it RT @hagfish48: @davidprice14 did you know there is a Twinkie signed by you in eBay?Seems weird!

The Twinkie ended up going for $56, which is probably about right, but for some reason I was expecting it to go higher. It's unknown at this time if Price actually won it or was even serious about making a bid. If he was, though, this is what he said he had planned.

No chance...ill save it and give it to my kids RT @robyounce: @davidprice14 Are you gonna eat the Twinkie after you buy it? #hungry

As someone who hasn't been a Twinkie fan since his childhood, leaving them packaged is my preferred method as well.

Of course the natural follow up question to the Twinkie signing was whether or not that was the strangest thing Price had ever signed.

No...infants forehead with black sharpie RT @tholemoley: @davidprice14 Is a Twinkie the weirdest thing you've ever signed?

There are no further words that need to be written at this present time.
