The elimination number of the Los Angeles Dodgers is down to one, but they're not going quietly just yet. A 3-2 walkoff win over the San Francisco Giants on Monday night kept the team's hopes of forcing a Thursday tiebreaker with the St. Louis Cardinals alive for at least another day.
We're serious about it being a total team effort, too. Watch how bad this Dodgers ballboy wanted Buster Posey's foul ball — and the hilarity that ensued after he fell into the stands without it:
As MLB.com's Twitter feed said, "we've seen players flying into the stands to make a grab, but a ballboy?" Nope, can't say we've seen that one.
Here's the thing, though: While the fans at Dodger Stadium and those of us at home drew a lot of amusement from the ballboy's tumble in the stands, it looks like he was trying to use his glove to protect the fans behind him — just like that Padres ballgirl did to the Braves bullpen earlier this season.
So for that, we give our gloveman a big BLS head nod. Good job, great effort.
