Detroit Tigers World Series champions bucket finds way into Giants champagne celebration

DETROIT — In the middle of the wild Giants celebration that spilled from the team's clubhouse at Comerica Park, into the adjoining hallway and even into a series of attached rooms, the wife of team president Larry Baer held a silver bucket with two champagne bottles and a big mistake.

A sticker was plastered on the side of the bucket and it had the words: "World Series Champions 2012 Detroit Tigers." A Tigers logo was also interlaced with an image of the championship trophy.

Pam Baer had no idea where the bucket came from. Someone had handed it to her in the mayhem that followed the Giants' four game sweep of the team that expected to win the World Series so much it had buckets printed proclaiming itself champions.

Undoubtedly the buckets were made before the series started and then passed on to the Giants by the home team that had no use for them. Maybe the Tigers figured no one from the Giants would notice in the frenzy of the celebration. Which is almost exactly what happened.

The Giants seemed more than happy to use this one, however.
