Some players, when they take a road trip to Baltimore, find a "socks shop" and get a pair of zebra gamers to wear. Others, such as Colby Rasmus of the Toronto Blue Jays, find a salon and get their hair braided into cornrows.
Colby is drapin', as the kids say.
We're not sure yet what possessed Rasmus to do his 'do like this, but over the course of a long 162-game season, players like to change things up — especially when they're not playing particularly well. Unfortunately for the Blue Jays, Rasmus struck out three times in an 8-2 loss to the Orioles on Saturday night, giving him nine whiffs in 10 at-bats.
Hopefully he ditches the slump but keeps the hair, which has experienced an interesting evolution through the years:
The photo on the left was taken within the past week. The one on the right came from Rasmus's appearance in the Little League World Series in 1999. Was he a little blond kid?
The reaction from around the internet seems to be 80-20 in favor of the Rasmus hair transformation. One of Colby's buds, Matt Sebek of Joe Sports Fan, seemed to think this change was inevitable. And this other dude with cornrows — King Sexton — loves the look.
If it's good enough for those guys ...
Love baseball? Even like it a little?
